Just like it happens in the movies, love took the centre stage at the Rio Olympics 2016.

Soon after Australia won the first women’s rugby sevens gold in the games history the Deodoro Stadium witnessed some surreal love scenes.

Marjorie Enya, a 28-year-old venue manager, grabbed a microphone and delivered an emotional speech followed by a marriage proposal to Brazil player Isadora Cerullo.

Tthe whole stadium was in awe. Cerullo of course accepted the proposal and the couple kissed in full glare of the international arena.

“As soon as I knew she was in the squad I thought I have to make this special,” Enya told BBC Sport. “I know rugby people are amazing and they would embrace it,” she added, and insisted she had not been nervous about popping the question so publicly to her partner of two years.

“She is the love of my life,” she said.

Twenty-five-year-old Cerullo was part of the Brazilian rugby sevens squad which finished ninth in the Olympics.

The happy couple lives in Sao Paulo, where Cerullo had moved to focus on her rugby career.
