NEW DELHI: If you live in the Delhi-NCR region and are sick of persistent call drops, there’s some good news for you. Telecom major Reliance Communications has launched its ‘Call drops se chutkara’ offer.

As part of the quirkily-named offer, prepaid customers will be able to make 300 minutes of app-to-app calls at an introductory price of just Re 1. The data-based calls will be handled using the telco’s 850MHz frequency band.

RCom will offer about 7MB of data per day under the scheme, which, according to the company, is enough for about 10 minutes of app-to-app calls per day. This data can also be utilized for browsing.

However, any amount of unutilized data (out of the 7MB per day allowance) will lapse at the end of the day.

With the new offer, RCom seemingly hopes to bank upon the increasing popularity of instant messaging and calling apps such as WhatsApp , Viber, Google Hangouts and Skype.

It’s worth noting that the service is already available in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, with the company planning a phased rollout in other circles.

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications is expected to sign a merger agreement by the first week of September.
