Free health check-up for people over 30 years of age

The Punjab government today said it will launch a “major initiative” in the public health sector in the form of free annual preventive health check-up programme (FAPHC) for the people above 30 years of age in the state.

Each resident of the state, who is above 30 years of age, will be screened for diseases like anemia, hypertension, diabetes, kidney and liver etc, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Punjab, Vini Mahajan, said in a statement issued here.

An expert group led by Advisor Health Dr K K Talwar and Dr Rajesh Kumar of PGIMER have planned the initiative.

Mahajan said such diseases can be prevented/controlled if detected at an early stage.

She said as per public health experts, health check-up on a regular basis, especially after the age of 30, is the key to prevention of such diseases and play a major role in determining the quality of life.
