Demonetisation: After four-day hiatus, parliament to meet on Wednesday

Even as there is no sign of the impasse between government and the opposition on the issue of demonetisation being resolved, parliament will meet on Wednesday after a four-day break. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has reiterated that the government is ready for debate on the issue asking the Congress to rise above slogans and see advantage of the decision.

However, the Congress does not seem to be in a mood to tone down its demand for a discussion on the issue under the rule entailing voting in the Lok Sabha and is persistent on its demand of the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the debate in Rajya Sabha.
