Anupam Kher fondly recalls his meeting with Garry Marshall

Mumbai: Actor Anupam Kher turned nostalgic after he recalled his meeting with “Pretty Woman” director Garry Marshall, who died at the age of 81.

Kher, 61, said he feels privileged to have had the opportunity to meet Marshall in LA.

“Had the privilege of meeting director #GarryMarshall in LA. He spread happiness like his movies did. Will miss him,” the “Baby” star wrote on Twitter.

Marshall, who was also a comedian and an actor, died at a hospital in Burbank in Los Angeles of complications from pneumonia after having a stroke on July 19.

The first feature Marshall directed was the 1982 comedy “Young Doctors in Love,” but his first big screen blockbuster was 1990’s “Pretty Woman,” starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.The trio reunited in 1999 for box office hit “Runaway Bride”. Marshall is credited for launching Anne Hathaway’s career with “The Princess Diaries” and its sequel.

His other major romantic movies are “New Year’s Eve” and his last release this year “Mother’s Day”.

Marshall also had a long acting career that began in the early 1960s. He played a hoodlum in the James Bond film “Goldfinger” and made appearances, most uncredited, in many of his film and TV projects.
