Kolkata: The Kolkata Police today questioned eminent writer Amit Chaudhuri and his daughter in connection with the death of Aabesh Dasgupta after being allegedly hit by a broken alcohol bottle, an officer said.

Seven other persons, who were present at the time of the incident at the Sunny Park complex, were also questioned, he said.

Chaudhuri and his daughter were questioned in Kolkata Police headquarters in Lal Bazar.

According to sources, the sleuths probing the matter were trying to match versions of these seven persons with those 14 grilled in connection with the mishap yesterday, the officer said.

Members of the special team, formed to investigate the death of the 17-year-old boy, have spoken to the girl with whom Aabesh developed an emotional bondage.

The police has also examined the WhatsApp messages of Aabesh and those in other social networking sites to get a clear idea about the boy’s activitiy.

About the post mortem report, a senior officer of the Force said that “it was still inconclusive and may require some more time to have a final one”.

Meanwhile, a group of friends of the teenager paid visit to his Mudiali residence along with their friends.

Reiterating that Aabesh was a “nice human being” they demanded “justice” for their friend.

Aabesh, a class XI student, was killed last Saturday when a youth accompanying him to the birthday party allegedly hit him with glass shards during a quarrel in the car parking lot of the writer’s apartment at upscale Ballygunge.

The city police has started a murder case against “unknown person” in connection with the death of Aabesh on the basis of statement of his mother.
