NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday suspended several top police officers of Bulandshahr, after an alleged gang rape of a woman and her daughter on National Highway 91.

The officials suspended include SSP Bulandshahr Vaibhav Kishan, SP city Rammohan Singh, circle officer (Sadar) Himanshu Gaurav and SHO Ramsen Singh of Kotwali Dehat, amid allegations of laxity by police.

The chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had given “24 hours time” to SSP Bulandshahr to crack the case while directing disciplinary action against policemen of the area earlier on Sunday.

The UP CM has also directed principal secretary, Home, Debashish Panda and DGP Javeed Ahmad to monitor the case, an official spokesman said.

The DGP accompanied by principal secretary (Home) visited the site of the incident on the direction of the CM.
