Ghaziabad: Around a dozen Aam Aadmi Party activists were today booked for burning Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s effigy in the collectorate compound here, police said.

AAP district convener Chetan Tyagi, women wing convener Seema Saxena and other workers staged a protest, demanding early arrest of the accused in the Bulandshahr gangrape case, and burnt the CM’s effigy, SHO Ashok Sisodia said.

An FIR has been registered at Kavi Nagar police station.

Meanwhile, District Magistrate Nidhi Kesarwani has put a ban on protests and demonstrations in collectorate premises without prior permission.

“From today, no political party or organisation can stage protest without written permission of additional district magistrate or city magistrate,” a release from the district information office said.

A political slugfest is on in the state over the gangrape of a minor girl and her mother on the national highway in Bulandshahr district.
