Mumbai: With many voicing their displeasure over the growing trend of actors crooning their songs, singer Shalmali Kholgade feels there is nothing wrong with it. The “Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai” hitmaker says it is great if celebrities wish to record songs in their own voice. “We’ve had actors singing in films even earlier.

We never questioned it then, we shouldn’t now. If there’s an actor who wishes to sing in the film he or she is acting in, that’s great,” Shalmali told. The “Balam Pichkari” crooner feels singers go beyond just voicing tracks in movies and have a career even as independent artists. “Singers do get most of their recognition from film music, but that’s not where it ends. We have an entire independent musical career we can build outside the film world.” Shalmali will be seen on MTV’s music-travel show “Angles of Rock” along with three other singers, Jasmine Sandlas, Akasa Singh and Anusha Mani.
