Weddings are always beautiful and the bells are already ringing for the Snapchat cofounder and CEO Evan Spiegel and his girlfriend supermodel Mirada Kerr.

Although the whole thing is quite ironic that Kerr announced their engagement on Instagram, which is a big rival of Snapchat. Given Snapchat’s history with Facebook—Spiegel spurned a $3 billion, all-cash acquisition offer from Mark Zuckerberg’s company in 2013, we hope that everything is well between the love birds.

In Kerr’s defense, her Instagram announcement featured a Bitmoji, which is made by a company recently acquired by Snapchat.

And in further fairness, Spiegel’s app isn’t designed to let its users broadcast information to the general public. Privacy is a big part of the platform, and it’s hard for individual users to post photos to users other than those they who follow them. (Every user can watch Snapchat Discover content, provided by publishing partners like Vice and Mashable, and Snapchat Live Stories, which are curated by the company.)

Spiegel used to be an avid social media user, and had a prolific Twitter account. Then, in June 2015, Spiegel and Snapchat cofounder Bobby Murphy deleted all their tweets without explanation. Less than a year later, Bloomberg reported that Snapchat had passed Twitter in daily active users.

Spiegel, 26, and Kerr, 33, met in 2014. A source told US Weekly on June 15 that the couple was shopping for rings, and that they would have an “extravagant wedding, in true Evan style.”
