The incident took place at around 9.45 am local time at the Church of the Gambetta in the Haute-Normandie region.
As reported, two armed men who took hostages at a church in northern France, are dead while hostage has also beenkilled, .
Local media reported that a priest and two nuns had been taken hostage with several worshippers. Police and the emergency services are on the spot and the area has been cordoned off for safety reasons.
A resident said he was on his way to the church when the horror unfolded. He told French newspaper MetroNews: “I was going to go out and do my shopping when the police started shouting me to go straight home and barricade myself.”
