Security scaled up for BRICS summit amid reports of possible terror attacks during the meet

New Delhi has beefed up the security arrangements for the upcoming BRICS and BIMSTEC summit in Goa following the reports that, Pakistan-based terrorist groups may try to disturb the international events where presidents of Russia and China will be participants.

Indian security establishment is taking no chances after reports that terror groups may try to embarrase India in the light of the collapse of the SAARC summit scheduled in Islamabad, following India’s decision to pull out after the terror attack in Uri.

Goa Police will handle the outer security cordon while central security forces and agencies will be responsible for the security of the hotel, vehicles and the venue of the summits.

The threetier security arrangement will see deployment of Central Industrial Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force and National Disaster Relief Force with more than 6, 000 security personnel.
