The Main Post newspaper reported that three people had been seriously hurt, one slightly injured and 14 others were left suffering from shock. Other media outlets put the number of injured at between 15 and 21. Some victims are in life-threatening situation according to reports. There were unconfirmed reports that police had shot a man believed to be the attacker as he tried to run from the train,according to the br24.de website.
It is unclear if he had been injured or killed. There is also a suspect ion of multiple attackers
Trains running between Würzburg and Ochsenfurt were cancelled.
