Muzaffarnagar: A case has been registered against eight named inmates and 25 unidentified prisoners of the district jail for damaging furniture, violence and threatening jail staff, a senior official said today.

Jail Superintendent Rakesh Singh said the incident took place yesterday after a mobile phone and sim card was recovered from an inmate, Vivek, by the jail wardan.

Led by Vivek, other inmates gathered near the main gate of the jail and damaged jail furniture, he said, adding police and jail staff rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
