Mumbai: The Madras high court on Wednesday directed Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block all websites including 830 mentioned in a plea made by Balaji Motion Pictures Ltd, producer of the upcoming film A Flying Jatt.
The producer had moved the HC for a “John Doe” order against known and unknown persons who may illegally “host the contents of its copyrighted film A Flying Jatt”. The film is to be released on August 25.
The HC after hearing the plea presented through the producer’s law firm ALMT Legal also directed the ISP to “also block such sites within 24 hours of receipt of information on infringement from the film producer.”
The court also restrained cable operators and unknown persons from “camcording/recording and allowing others to transmit, communicate or make available, display, release, upload download in any manner whatsoever” copies of the film before or after its release.
The Delhi HC had on Tuesday directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to hear the representation of a Sikh organisation which had raised objections to certain portions of the film and to decide on it by August 24 as the film is scheduled for release on August 25.
The Delhi HC order was on a plea made by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara management committee which wanted a stay on the film’s release as it said it was “insulting the religious sentiments of the community”.
The HC did not grant any stay but directed CBFC to consider the committee’s representation made before it earlier and to “pass appropriate order in accordance with law” by Wednesday.
In its plea against piracy Balaji Films told the Madras high court that it’s latest venture, starring Tiger Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nathan Jones, Kay Kay Menon and others, directed by Remo D’Souza is a Bollywood superhero action film.
“The plaintiff has invested substantial sums of money in the production of the said Film and its promo released officially on YouTube has already garnered over 10 million views.
