New Delhi:  Three persons have been arrested for allegedly pouring kerosene on a 20-year-old girl and setting her on fire for resisting their advances on her. The incident happened in northwest Delhi’s Bhalswa Dairy area, police said.

Abhishek, his uncle Vijay, and one of their friends allegedly poured kerosene and burnt the girl on Saturday. She sustained severe burns and is stated to be in a critical condition at LNJP Hospital, they said.

The accused, along with their friends used to regularly “harass” the girl, who happens to be a resident of Mukundpur area in northwest Delhi, a senior officer said.

Initially, the girl ignored them but when the stalking continued, she complained to her family.

Her brother warned the accused, who came later to attack the girl’s family on Saturday.

“The girl’s brother was beaten up brutally, and has sustained head injuries. He has also been admitted to a hospital,” police said.
