The Congress government on Saturday decided to earmark 33% quota for women in the posts of Sub-Inspectors in the Union territory of Puducherry.

He was addressing party workers at the 72nd birth anniversary celebrations of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at the PCC office here today

Narayanasamy paid glowing tributes to Rajiv Gandhi and said he was groomed by the late leader in politics.

He said the Puducherry government has decided to disburse the monthly assistance to ged persons and widows under welfare schemes through anganwadi centres instead of beneficiaries approaching banks to get the assistance.

Old age pension beneficiaries, who are octogenarians would be handed over the assistance personally by bank staff and anganwadi staff at their homes, he said.

Narayanasamy claimed that law and order was being maintained well, as could be seen since the last few months.

PCC president and PWD Minister A Namassivayam administered the ‘anti terrorism pledge’ to all those present, including ministers, legislators and Deputy Speaker V P Sivakolundhu.

Later Narayanasamy, his cabinet colleagues and legislators garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi in the neighbouring Ellaipillaichavady.
