Ahead of Mamata’s rally CPM Trinamool clash causes tension

A day before the rally of Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, TMC workers in Kalayanpur area of Khowai district in West Tripura have allegedly been assaulted by CPI-M cadres.

The cadres accused the TMC workers of putting up slanderous post in the social media.Both Trinamool and CPI-M supporters lodged separate cases against each other. However, there was no arrest so far. Police said they have started investigation into the cases and made adequate security arrangement to diffuse tension.

The incident has triggered tension across the state. Ms Banerjee is scheduled to arrive in Agartala this afternoon and tomorrow she is scheduled to address a rally at the Vivekananda stadium here.

Trinamool Congress leaders alleged that CPI-M supporters had brutally beaten up one of their supporters Goutam Das (27) yesterday, accusing him of posting abusive comments against the CPI-M leaders from the TMC’s Facebook account.He was rescued by his party men and shifted to hospital.The matter was reported to the police.

Meanwhile, CPI-M supporters lodged complaint against Mr Das for using abusive language and instigating comments against their leaders.
