Mulayam was not flinching from a fight either. The Yadav chieftain, in the six-hour meeting he had with Akhilesh in which Shivpal was also present, refused to give in to his son’s protests against the “raw deal” to the latter’s loyalists in ticket distribution.
“Aap ko jo karna hai mujhe kariye, mere logo ko kyon punish kar rahe hai (If you are angry with me, punish me not my friends),” the CM is learnt to have repeatedly told Mulayam. The unmoved SP chief just said “hum dekhenge”.
After Mulayam released the list on Wednesday, Akhilesh held a meeting of his loyalist MLAs and before meeting his father on Thursday .
Sources said Akhilesh was hurt and humiliated after his followers were denied tickets. In retaliation, he sacked Mulayam loyalists like Surabhi Shukla from the government.
The list said to have Akhilesh’s stamp was released from the Janeshwar Mishra Trust office, which has emerged as an alternative power centre for the CM’s loyalists, many of them sacked by the party over the past two months.
