Lucknow: Amid high-voltage drama for political supremacy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has wrested complete control of the Samajwadi Party from his father Mulayam Singh Yadav.
News agency IANS has reported that the Akhilesh camp has told banks to freeze the Samajwadi Party accounts. Consequently, over Rs 500 crore belonging to the party have been put on hold.
Notably, the accounts were till now operational with the signature of Shivpal Yadav, the estranged uncle of the 43-year-old Akhilesh Yadav.
Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav appears isolated in this battle, which has exposed rifts within the first family of Uttar Pradesh ahead of Assembly Elections.
