As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet initiative Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan turns two on October 2, Amar Chitra Katha has come out with comics on the whole cleanliness campaign and scientific sanitation methods of Indus Valley civilisation.
Anant Pai’s greatest creation Amar Chitra Katha, which tells the tales of Indian mythology and folklore, has developed a comic named “Swachh Bharat, the Clean Revolution” to teach the schoolchildren about the conceptualisation of the campaign and success stories over last two years.
The comic story starts with a storyteller Uncle Anant, a character drawn from Pai, who tells the children ho India led the world in waste disposal 2,500 years ago. He also gives brooms to the children to clean theneighbourhood as he teels them how Kautilya’s Arthashastra spoke of fines for open defecation.
