Terming RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks over “lawful” protectors of cow as “empty talk”, CPI on Wednesday asked him to first find out “who are the people” creating nuisance in BJP-ruled states in the name of protecting the animal and ensure action against them.

The party said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments slamming cow vigilantes too has turned out to be an “empty talk” as attacks on Dalits and minorities continued despite his denouncement of such incidents.

“He (Bhagwat) should first find out who are the people creating nuisances in the name of cow protection in BJP-ruled states. These are members of right-wing groups. Doesn’t he know that?” CPI national secretary D Raja said.

The Rajya Sabha member said the BJP-led state governments must ensure that law takes its course and “nuisance creating” cow vigilantes are punished.
