Bhubaneswar: BJP today alleged that the ruling BJD in Odisha is “failing on all fronts” including distribution of ration cards under National Food Security Act (NFSA) and said it would launch an agitation on July 29 to “expose” the state government’s “inefficiency”.

“Naveen Patnaik government has failed on all fronts during its 16-year rule. Poor people are deprived of their rights due to inertia, inefficiency and lack of willpower on the part of the BJD government,” BJP state chief Basant Panda alleged.

BJP workers would stage demonstrations in front of all Block offices across the state on July 29 against the government which is “responsible for jeopardising” the source of livelihood and income of common people, he said.

“Instead of giving people their due rights, the BJD government has caused them miseries and sufferings,” Panda alleged.

BJP would highlight the state government’s “failure” in providing ration cards under NFSA to eligible beneficiaries and give subsidy to drought-affected farmers, he said.

Non-inclusion of farmers of the state in the ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana’ would also be highlighted during the protest, he said, adding, “people should know the truth behind recent killings of tribals and Dalits in Kandhamal and death of children due to malnutrition in Nagada village of Jajpur district.”

Accusing the state government of failing to provide proper irrigation facilities to the farmers, Panda alleged health care services are in doldrums leading to spread of diseases like dengue, cholera, diarrhoea and malaria in different parts of the state.
