ALAPPUZHA: A civil police officer was suspended in Alappuzha for criticizing chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan through his Facebook post. District police chief A Akbar said Rajagopal Arunima, civil police officer with the Alappuzha Armed Reserve Police Camp was suspended based on the inquiry report of deputy commandant of AR camp Ivan Rethinam
Rethinam told TOI today, “I conducted a preliminary inquiry and the report has been submitted to the district police chief.”
He made the post in his FB account ‘Rajagopal Arunima- on August 1 criticizing chief minister and the court in connection with the police attack on media persons on the premises of Kozhikode district court. Kozhikode Town SI P M Vimod was suspended by the government for attacking media on the court premises then.”
A police officer should not criticize the government or court through social media as he is a part of disciplinary force. In his FB post, he asked what kind of chief minister is now leading the government of Kerala, he does not have a back bone. SI Vimod did not commit any crime and he was suspended by the government without any proper reason. So in my inquiry, Rajagopal acted against the government. So he was placed under suspension”, said Ivan Rethinam.
