Even after being in a violent and constant traumatic situation some Kashmiris have proved that humanity is still alive. One of them is a Kashmiri nurse Firdousa Rashid from Tangmarg in North Kashmir, reported Bhaskar Chawla in Vagabomb.
Firdousa is a nurse in Srinangar’s SMHS Hospital, which is 40 kilometres from her village.
“I left home at 7.45am and reached the hospital at 2.15pm. I had to report for duty,” she told Greater Kashmir.
Firdousa, who works in the ICU said that she knew that the hospital does not have enough number of staff and there is no use of the ICU if it does not have nurses. So, despite the tense atmosphere and questions like “why are you out?” from the protestors she walked to the hospital. Her only concern was that she didn’t leave early enough. Her motivation was relieving the nurses who had been working at the hospital for two days straight, said Chawla.
“They could not have carried on more. We had to give them respite,” said the brave Firdousa Rashid.
Firdousa’s fierce dedication to her job in the face of so much adversity is admirable, and we hope it’s seen as a beacon of hope in a state that’s been facing extreme violence and curfews, severely hampering normal life.
