A petition has been filed in the Madras High Court seeking registration of a case against former Tamil Nadu transport minister V Senthil Balaji and two officials of state-owned transport corporation for allegedly cheating job aspirants to the tune of Rs 60 lakh in 2014.

Subbiah, working as a technical assistant in the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC)’s Karaikudi division in Sivaganga district, in his petition alleged he had collected Rs 60 lakh from 38 aspirants for jobs in the corporation and gave it to senior official Babu in 2014 on the assurance that appointment orders would be issued to them.

He further submitted that the official had told him that the then transport minister Balaji had spoken to him with regard to issuing appointment orders in 2014.

In the meantime, Babu retired and Rangaraj took over his position following which appointment orders were issued to a few persons. But they turned out to be fake, the petitioner claimed.

He lodged a complaint with the district crime branch police, but no action had been taken against the former minister or the two others, including the retired official.

The court should intervene and give a direction to the police to initiate necessary action, he said.
