Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat met Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu in New Delhi and discussed issues related to the rail network which were impacting tourism in the hill state.

The governor apprised the Union minister late last evening about shortage of wheels due to which the number of coaches from Kalka to Shimla have been reduced.

Devvrat said that the shortage of wheels at Kalka station have deprived the tourists of the special holiday train during the May-June tourist season.

He appealed to the minister to take “appropriate actions” so that adequate number of coaches could be run from Kalka station. The governor said that this may facilitate passengers and also boost tourism in the state.

Prabhu assured that the issues would be considered sympathetically.

He has directed top officials of the Northern Railway to look into the issues of shortage of wheels immediately.
