NEW DELHI: There may be veracity in the claims made by CRPF and BSF jawans of apathy by the paramilitary leadership as a study conducted by Indian Institute of Management way back in 2012 had highlighted that the personnel of these forces are “overburdened with work and which was causing dissatisfaction in the ranks.”

The IIM, study on “Emotional Intelligence and Occupational Stress in BSF and CRPF” underscored high levels of salary discrepancy, difficulty due to unpaid medical claims and lack of career progression for the jawans. For the cadre officers, the report noted that they face lack of identity, continuous posting in hard areas, lack of authority and training opportunities leading them to demotivation and burnout leading to different psychological complications.
