Mohan Bhagwat should himself father ten children and raise them well before “inciting” Hindus, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday, wading into the row over the RSS chief’s comments on Hindu population.

“Before inciting the Hindus, Bhagwat should himself father 10 children and show that he can raise them well,” Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.

Bhagwat had on Saturday courted controversy when he said, “Which law says that the population of Hindus should not rise? There is nothing like that. What is stopping them when population of others is rising? The issue is not related to the system. It is because the social environment is like this.”

The RSS chief’s remarks had come during an interaction at an event in Agra when somebody asked him a question on the issue of declining Hindu population.

The AAP chief also took on BJP chief Amit Shah over his comments on nationalism.

“We have to unite against those who want to crush freedom of speech and democracy in the garb of nationalism,” said another post by Kejriwal on the microblogging site.

Kejriwal was referring to Shah’s tweets that people will have to unite against those “dividing” the nation in the name of nationalism and that no nation can stand together in the absence of nationalism and patriotism.

In another tweet, Kejriwal alleged that “Congress was in Ambani’s pockets, similarly the Modi government is in Ambani’s pockets too.”

His comments came on a day the Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) sought quashing of an FIR against it for alleged irregularities in raising the price of gas from KG 6 basin, telling Delhi High Court that the AAP government was “never entitled” to lodge an FIR against it.
