The Jammu and Kashmir government today ordered the opening of schools along the International Border (IB) in Jammu district that were closed following the heavy cross-border firing from the Pakistani side.

On November 1, the government had ordered the closure of 174 schools situated along the IB in Jammu district following heavy shelling and firing from the Pakistani side.

“The order dated November one regarding closure of 174 schools in the border areas of Jammu district stands withdrawn. All schools will re-open from tomorrow,” Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu, Simrandeep Singh said.

Pakistan had violated the ceasefire agreement 286 times along the Line of Control (LoC) and IB since the army carried out surgical strikes on the terror launch pads in the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Twenty-six persons, including 14 security personnel, were killed in the cross-border firing.
