West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee performed Kali Puja at her residence at Kalighat in the southern part of the city.
Banerjee, who was fasting during the day and prepared ‘bhog’, played host to a large number of guests including VVIPs, cabinet colleagues, politicians and commoners last night.
For the last three decades, the puja has been performed at her house.
Clad in her trade mark cotton saree and rubber slippers, Banerjee stood with her hands folded and greeted the people at her single storey house.
Police strengthened security arrangements in and around the area.
