Puducherry: Union Civil Aviation Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju today assured the Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi that the Civil Aviation Ministry would extend support for reviving the air services from Puducherry.
The assurance was given during a meeting between them in Delhi, an official relese said.
The air services would be expeditiously taken up under “regional air connectivity scheme” to bring Puducherry and Karaikal regions back on the air map once again.
Kiran Bedi has been camping in Delhi since Monday seeking speedy approval and clearance of various developmental projects for Puducherry by the Centre.
She also met the Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani in Delhi today who assured the Lt Governor that she would visit Puducherry in September to galvanize handloom coir and handicraft sectors in Puducherry.
The release also said the Union Minister for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Kalraj Mishra had informed her during a meeting with him in Delhi that the Steering Committee of the Ministry had approved of the Detailed Project Report of Rs 121.25 crore for a ‘state of the art’ tool room and technology development centre for Puducherry.
The Union Commerce and Industries Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured the Lt Governor that the Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor would be extended through Puducherry to Tuticorin to revitalise the industrial sector in the Union Territory.
