A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by three persons who later dumped her on the outskirts of her village in this district, police said today.
The girl has been admitted to a nursing home where her condition is said to be serious, her father said in his complaint to police.
The 14-year-old had been kidnapped at Saibsu village on the evening of July 28 when she was returning home from the tomb of a local saint.
When she did not return, her father did not inform police fearing “loss of face” in his village, but instead launched a search for her with relatives, Kanpur SSP Shalabh Mathur said.
Two days later, the three accused — Ashok, Vimlesh Mishra and Rohit, tried to leave the victim at her relative’s place in a neighbouring village. They later dumped her at the outskirts of her village after the relative told them to drop the victim at her home.
The SSP said the victim’s father lodged an FIR only today, adding that a case has been registered. The girl was also sent for medical check-up today, he added.
