Jaipur: Documents of properties running in crores of rupees have been recovered from the house of notorious criminal Anandpal Singh during a raid, police said today.

A police team raided the house of Singh and recovered documents of property worth around Rs 80 crore yesterday.

“The team also raided the house of a history sheeter Basheer Khan in Ladnu area today. A close aide of Anandpal, Nirmal Bhartaria, had gone to meet Khan to immediately sell a controversial land and to receive money,” SP Nagaur Anil Deshmukh said.

Both Bhartaria and Khan were not present in the house but the team recovered documents related with the land.

The police had filed an complaint before sub-divisional magistrate, Ladnu to attach this controversial land yesterday and an order to attach the property has been issued by the SDM.

Anandpal wanted to sell the land immediately before it was attached, he said.

The SP said Anandpal and his gang have got many properties registered in the name of different people and such owners are being interrogated.

He said that after assessing the properties’ value, the income tax department, enforcement directorate and deputy registrar (stamp) will be forwarded letters for appropriate action in the matter.

Anandpal Singh, who carries a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on head, had managed to escape while being taken back from a court to Ajmer jail in Parbatsar area of Nagaur last year.

He recently escaped after opening fire at a police party which left a sub-inspector injured in his village in Didwana town of Nagaur.
