Bahujan Samaj Party is likely to emerge as a single largest party in the next year’s assembly elections, a jantakareporter.com UP Poll Survey has revealed.
The results of the survey reveal that Samajawadi Party may face the considerable loss in the 2017 assembly elections with the party’s overall tally likely to come down to double digits.
While Mayawati’s BSP is expected to get 169 seats in the 403-seat UP assembly, the SP’s over all numbers may come down to a dismal 74. This is a sharp reduction from the party’s current strength of 228 MLAs in the UP assembly. The BSP, on the other hand appears to be destined to gain at least 89 more seats.
The other beneficiary in the next year’s elections is the BJP, which is expected to gain 88 more seats than what they got in the 2012 Assembly Elections. This may take its total number of seats to 135.
Congress, which recently kickstarted its high-profile campaign, may get 13 seats less than what it got in the 2012 Assembly Elections.
Mayawati is the first choice of voters for chief minister’s post with overall 28% voters wanting her to lead the next government. She gets 28% support from Western Uttar Pradesh, 26% from Awadh, 30% from Bundelkhand and 26% from Purvanchal.
The second best choice of voters as Chief Minister is Akhilesh Yadav, who has received the support of 25% of the voters of Uttar Pradesh based on the number of respondents, who were spoken to as part of this survey.
Akhilesh gets 23% support from Western Uttar Pradesh, 27% from Awadh, 27% from Bundelkhand and 22% from Purvanchal.
For BJP, Varun Gandhi comes at close third place as voters choice as the next Chief Minister. Gandhi, who is the BJP MP from UP’s Sultanpur, gets support of overall 23% of the voters as the next Chief Minister with 21% support from Western Uttar Pradesh, 23% from Awadh, 25% from Bundelkhand and 21% from Purvanchal.
Interestingly, 53% respondents, who said they will vote for BJP supported Varun Gandhi as the party’s face for chief minister.
