Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister B Janardhan Poojary said on Friday that he would perform ‘Urulu Seve’ (rolling around the place of worship) at the Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara temple here in a bid to seek divine intervention on the Cauvery river water issue.
Talking to reporters here, Poojary said several Congress leaders, devotees and religious leaders would offer Urulu Seve along with him on September 30.
Urulu Seve is a religious practice observed in Hindu temples which involves rolling around the temple as an offering.
Poojary said he was performing it seeking divine blessings because only the Almighty could restore peace in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over the Cauvery water issue.
He also extended his invitation to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to join him in the Urulu Seve and urged him to implement the principles.
He said the letter written by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to his Tamil Nadu counterpart on the issue had not yielded any result.
