In keeping with his promise of visiting his home state more often, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has scheduled his next visit to Gujarat on September 17, his birthday. He will celebrate his 66th birthday with the tribal communities in Dahod or Navsari. Over the next few months, a slew of visits are planned to Gujarat that will hold polls next year.
The Prime Minister had during his recent public meeting at Dhrol in Jamnagar said that he intended to put a halt to complaints by former chief minister Anandiben Patel and party workers that he did not visit Gujarat often after assuming charge as the PM.His visit to the tribal areas on September 17 will be followed by a public address at Navsari. Modi had earlier visited Sarangpur, his first visit after a long time, to pay respects to the late Pramukh Swami Maharaj of Bochasanwasi Akshar Purshottam Swaminarayan sect. In November, the Prime Minister will inaugurate World Kabbadi Championship in Maninagar, which used to be his assembly constituency earlier. However, officials were not clear about his detailed itinerary for September 17. On his birthday, the first thing Modi does is visiting his mother Hira Ba and seeking her blessings.
He has maintained this tradition for many years. Modi is expected yet again early next year for the Eighth Edition of the prestigious biennial Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit, an initiative that has helped him build a national image of the most industry-friendly Chief Minister in the country. The event is expected to be held in the second week of January 2017 in the Gandhinagar. In his speech after inaugurating an ambitious water and irrigation project in Jamnagar on August 30, his second visit in a month, Modi struck a personal chord with the crowd.
