Aano Birhor, a rope maker from Jharkhand claimed that she has sold her newborn son for Rs 2,500 and bought a couple of goats withat money. Already a mother of six Birhor sold his son to a person named Kedar Sao, who has four daughters and was wanting a son, reported The Logical Indians.
The woman, a resident of Birhor Tola, Ramgarh, said she had lost her husband and could not bear the poverty.
So far, no case has been registered to the police regarding this case. Officials have said that an investigation is on its way.
Child trafficking and selling of children is a silent yet rampant practice in India. Poverty many times forces people to do so. The situation is bleak when it comes to stopping this practice. We request the NGOs who are closer to the ground, the hospitals and the government to work together and prevent such practices.
