Three fugitive servitors of Sri Jagannath Temple, who are wanted by the Puri Police for their alleged involvement in disrupting the Lords’ rituals, attacking the media men and threatening the district magistrate, have today approached the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bails.
The servitors Damodar Mahasuhar, Jaykrushna Mahasuhar and Jaynarayan Khuntia, have separately moved the High Court for the advance bail. They have sought the High Court’s protection on the concluding day of the deadline given to them by the police to surrender.
Reports reaching here said Puri Police, who have already arrested at least eight servitors in these cases, are also looking for 13 other errant servitors identified for their involvements in these cases from CCTV footage and the FIR filed by the district magistrate.
Police are planning to move a local court on Saturday to declare them as “absconders” and take further legal actions against them to attach their properties, sources said.
The High Court has not yet taken cognisance of the pleas of the servitors.
