Sambalpur, Odisha: A 23-years-old woman allegedly drowned her two daughters over family dispute and tried to commit suicide at Bamra in Sambalpur district today, the police said.
The woman identified as Baijayanti Mahali, wife of a Junior Engineer of Bamra Block, Durga Charan Mahali, allegedly drowned her 4-year-old and 2-month-old daughters in the water tank of their government quarter this evening.
She then attempted to commit suicide at the railway track in Bamra, but was rescued by local people who informed the police. The entire matter came to light then. Police said Baijayanti was detained and her husband who is not in the city was contacted.
