An emotional Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, made a powerful concession speech in which she accepted Donald Trump as “our president”. She said she had “congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country”. The two had fought what was America’s most bitter and divisive presidential elections in recent times.
As political commentators said the dash of purple of her and husband Bill Clinton’s attire hinted the willingness of blue to work with red — the colours of the two parties — she hoped that her Republican rival will be a “successful president for all Americans”.
