WASHINGTON: The fledgling Trump administration is expanding the scope of its immigration squeeze by targeting the foreign guest worker visa program amid a furor in multi-national corporations and a mutinous ferment in US government circles.
(Both sections are opposing what they say are isolationist policies detrimental to the US economy and national security, but the White House is insisting that the President’s intent is to protect borders and spur the economy while preventing job flight.)
Globally-engaged America is still coming to grips with the Trump decree staunching refugees and travel from seven Muslim nations when it was revealed that a new Presidential order, aimed at overhauling the guest worker program that includes the H-1B visas, is in the works.
