Over 130 authors to attend Tata LitFest

The seventh edition of the Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest, beginning November 17, has lined up over 130 authors and thinkers from over 30 countries for its latest outing.

Noted novelist Amitav Ghosh, literary critic and descendant of Shakespeare, Nicholas Shakespeare, political philosopher and author of ‘False Dawn’ John Gray are some of the prominent names to attend the festival.

Other key speakers include noted historian Ramachandra Guha, Simon Armitage, the sardonically witty British poet famous for the dramatisation of the Greek epic poem ‘The Odyssey’, Congress leaders and columnists P Chidambaram, Shashi Tharoor among others, founder and festival director Anil Dharker said.

The four-day festival will start from November 17 at the iconic National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) at Nariman Point and the Prithvi Theatre in Juhu.

This year the organisers have instituted three new awards to recognise excellence in the literature-for-children category and playwriting.

The festival will also feature Frank Moorhouse, Ma Thida, Sanjaya Baru, Jairam Ramesh, Girish Karnad, Anuvab Pal, Keki Daruwalla, Kiran Nagarkar and Jayant Narlikar, among others.

Legendary lyricist and poet, Gulzar, and Hindi film director and producer Karan Johar, will also lend the festival a flavour.
