NEW DELHI: The Anti-Corruption Branch on Friday said that it has summoned Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia for questioning in the case of alleged illegal recruitments at the Delhi Commission for Woman.
Sisodia will have to appear before the anti-graft unit on October 14. The summons were sent on Thursday evening.
ACB chief Mukesh Meena confirmed the development.
The ACB had earlier registered an FIR against DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal for alleged irregularities and questioned her twice.
The FIR has been lodged under Sections 3 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, apart from Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant) of IPC.
“The investigating officer found that there was a need for registration of FIR and probe the matter further. A notice is also being served on other senior officials of the government in this regard,” Meena said.
When asked if Maliwal’s arrest was likely, Meena said the investigating officer would take a call on this after completing the inquiry. “I can’t comment on it now,” he said.
Sources, however, said the ACB had written to L-G Najeeb Jung saying that necessary action could be taken against Maliwal.
