1924 pilgrims depart for Amarnath from Jammu

Jammu: A group of 1924 pilgrims set out on an annual pilgrimage from Jammu base camp for Amarnath. The Amarnath yatra is part of the exalted ‘chaar dhaam yatra‘- a cycle of pilgrimage embarked upon by many devotees every year.

By Monday, 40,000 pilgrims had visited the holy cave. Police sources confirm that in the present group, 1408 men, 362 women and 154 priests are included.

All of them started their journey in 53 vehicles from Bhagvati Nagar base camp at 5:15 am in the morning. Including the group that went on Tuesday, 8384 people have set out in total from the Jammu base camp as of now.
