England couldn’t do much in the first session on Sunday and would have to pull up their socks in the remainder of the day and limit the damage that the Indian batsmen can cause. They would desperately want to get Kohli’s wicket as early as possible, and then put up a score big enough to pose a serious challenge to India in the fourth innings.

If England can give India a target of around 150 in the fourth innings, they can still make a feast out of the contest. But that is still a long way off. But first, England will have to find a way to deal with Kohli and Jayant in the post-lunch session.
