In April 2016, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa declared movable and immovable property worth over Rs 113.73 crore, according to an affidavit filed along with her nomination papers for the May 16 Assembly elections. After her death on Tuesday, questions are being raised about who will inherit her wealth in the absence of immediate family.
sources report that Jayalalithaa, amma or mother to thousands of her devoted supporters, had drawn up a will two years ago. Sasikala Natarajan, who performed Jaya’s last rites, will inherit the bulk of her wealth, the paper said.
Jayalalithaa owned movable assets worth Rs 41.63 crore and immovable assets Rs 72.09 crore. Her total liabilities are around Rs 2.04 crore.
