While referring to the species of vulture, Khattar said a centre has been set up at Pinjore in Panchkula district for their conservation.
Similarly, the government has also set up centres for the conservation of wild Red Jungle fowl and peacock. In these centres, conservation of those breeds would be done which are at the verge of extinction, he said.
Khattar also lauded the role of Yoga guru Ramdev, saying he has immensely helped the people in maintaining good health by preparing various medicines from plants and herbs.
The chief minister said it is a matter of concern that forest area is constantly decreasing and various species of trees are vanishing.
“Owing to increasing materialism and inclination of people towards luxuries of life, their sense of respect towards the trees is decreasing. Apart from this, as a result of shrinking of forest area, the climate is undergoing several peculiar changes. Therefore, conservation of nature and wildlife is a daunting task before us,” Khattar said.
Later, talking to mediapersons here today, he attacked former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who had alleged the state government had failed on all fronts.
Khattar said Haryana was making fast progress under the present state government.
When asked to comment on reports that BJP MP from Kurukshetra Raj Kumar Saini was harbouring ambition to become the chief minister one day, he said there is nothing wrong if one harbours such ambition.
