Only four of Modi’s visits to UP have been organised by the BJP, all his visits have been to launch some national scheme. It seems like BJP’s bid to showcase NDA government’s development work at the Centre, reports said.

BJP national vicepresident Dr Dinesh Sharma may have denied any politics behind PM’s visit to Lucknow, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati accused Modi of using the occasion of Dussehra for poll gains .

Though Modi’s October 24 visit is ostensibly a government programme, the launch of the national irrigation scheme, according to BJP strategists, will influence farmers who form a sizeable part of the population/voters of poll-bound Uttar Pradesh. The same day, the PM will go to Varanasi to launch a railway project.
