The common public of Delhi should approach the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung with their problems about civic amenities stated AAP on Friday, taking a dig at the Delhi High Court’s decision of holding the LG as the “administrative head” of the capital. In the absence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, senior party leaders said while they had “full confidence” and “trust” in the judiciary, they “disagreed” with the judgment.

As per the report by The Indian Express, AAP national spokesperson Ashutosh Gupta said, “Since the situation has changed after Thursday’s judgment, we expect that all the work that the Delhi government was doing for public good and our battle against corruption will now be carried forward by the LG with the same commitment and honesty with which the Delhi government was performing. We respect the judgment of the Delhi High Court but fundamentally disagree with it. We are hopeful that the Supreme Court will rule in our favour. As a party that respects the Constitution and the judiciary, we will obey the decision of the high court.”

Listing out the commissions of inquiry set up by the Delhi government, Ashutosh also said the LG should now follow up on these “critical issues”.

The senior leader added, “Till this case continues to be heard by the Supreme Court, we hope that the LG will use his authority and power to work for the people of Delhi and continue AAP’s fight against corruption. If he fails to perform this duty, we will present our case to the highest court of this country.”

Responding to the HC order, Labour Minister Gopal Rai said, “The Indian Constitution has provisions for the rights of the LG and the elected government. The Delhi government has not come to power under America’s constitution. If there is a point of discord over rights, we will approach the Supreme Court.”
